The challenge this week is Old Fashioned. I’ve chosen this shot taken earlier this year on my iPhone because it exhibit the qualities of something old fashioned in the typography of the station name that forms part of the tiled wall.
What I find less acceptable is that there is no concession towards the historic appearance of the station. The safety board at the end of the line, the safety equipment fixed to the wall and the modern seating. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could preserve the character of these old station facades and incorporate all the 21st century equipment in such a way as to enhance rather than detract from what is possibly one of the very few underground stations with any character left in London?
